Ulrik Gliese - Visual Arts - Media Description

Original Prints My prints are Original Pigmented Ink Jet Photo Prints made with Epson Ultrachrome Ink on different papers depending on the image type.
Currently, I use 100% cotton Arches Infinity Fine Art Paper for my color prints and Epson Premium Luster Paper for my black and white prints. The color prints are hand varnished after printing to obtain a glossy surface as well as excellent protection against UV light and atmospheric gasses. This results in luscious and radiant prints with rich colors, great depth and wonderful organic surface qualities. The image area has the same leathery look and feel as fiber based black and white prints, and the paper border has a nice smooth velvety feel. You can read more about this type of print in the article "Searching for the sensuous print" in Ulrik's Corner.
My original prints are made one at a time personally by me and are only made to order. Each print is hinge-mounted on 100% cotton museum-quality board with a hinged mat made from the same type of board. The print is delivered with a protective interleaving sheet in a protective storage bag together with a certificate of authenticity and a handling and care instruction.
Editions My images are available as 8x10" prints in open editions. All other sizes will only be printed in limited editions of a given number of prints each numbered according to their placement in the edition plus a few artist copies clearly identified as such and never to be sold.
All prints whether in the open or limited editions are hand made to order. This means that the prints in the limited editions are not printed all at once but rather over time. In this process, each print will be made and treated as a new original receiving the utmost care and devotion. Depending on the demand, some limited editions may be completed and some will never be completed. My print editions are more often limited by the time it takes me to make prints than by the maximum number of prints allowed by the limited edition.
Information about the state of the editions for any given image at the time of printing is provided in the Certificate of Authenticity for every single print. Current information about the editions can be obtained at any time by contacting me.

Handling, Storage and Display Like any work of art, prints should be handled with care. The surface of the print is delicate and care should be taken to avoid touching it. Store the print with mat and interleaving sheet in the protective storage bag at all times when not on display.
When hung on the wall for display, the mounted print should always be with mat and under glass (UV protective glass is recommended for added image longevity). Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided as light with strong UV content is damaging to all works of art and especially to works on paper.
